Bingo Committee Request
One of our long standing members, Bill Fleming, is stepping down from the Bingo Committee after serving more than 20 years on this committee. We were very fortunate to have Bill serve in this capacity and the committee will miss him. We’ll see Bill on the diamonds this year; he plays in the Green Division. The Committee has always had 3 permanent members, Jim Bridge, our WECSSO treasurer, Bill Fleming and Jack Gibbons who have attended every bingo assignment ( 10 a year). Bill and Jack have done book sales with Jim, the administrator. A fourth person is also required to handle payouts. Various members have volunteered to do this part-time as needed. We need your Help. Without the bingos which bring in $12,000 – $14,000 every year, your cost to play ball would increase significantly.
What we are looking for: Two members that are willing to come on the Committee to be a regular member who would be trained in selling books and would rotate in with Jack Gibbons. They would only have to work 5 bingos. They would be required to come in 1 1/2 – 2 hrs before a bingo session ( to prepare and set up) and remain until the end. For a 3 session bingo (10:00 am, 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm), a regular member would come in at 8:30 and stay until 4:30 pm. If we had more than 2 come forth to serve in this capacity, that would be great and an assignment schedule could be set up. WE NEED YOU. A group of volunteers (no maximum number) willing to be called to work on payout, which only involves paying out wins for a given bingo. These members come in 1/2 hr before a bingo session starts and usually leave 1 hr earlier compared to a regular committee member. At times we have used 2 members if one can’t stay for the all the sessions. We are going to give each member that volunteers to work a session (2hrs) a $20 honorarium.
If you are willing to be a part of the regular Committee or willing to be included in the group of payout volunteers, please contact Jim Bridge: 519 – 969-9029 or Brian Adlam: 519-735-5438. We can’t emphasize this any more other than to say if we don’t get the volunteers, then we will have no bingos and thus most likely, no baseball.
Thank you for your consideration, The Bingo Committee

Wednesday, August 27th saw Bernie Decaire, Brian Jette, Carla Hicks and Dan Leithead all participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It was a lot of fun. Len Dupuis, Rick Anderson, Ray Hicks and Danny Roberts were all nominated and have 24 hours to comply. After he went home, Mike Patterson also participated, he was a brave soul and poured it over his own head.

Len Dupuis, our B Division convener, competed in a 5 km run on Aug 3, 2014 – a W.R.A.C.E. event – The Blue Heron Blitz. His time, as you can see was just over 28 minutes – very respectable. Way to go Len.
