Larry Lefaive

In Loving Memory of Larry Lefaive

May 28, 1943 – July 24, 2026

Peacefully on July 24th, 2026, Larry Lefaive passed away. He now rejoins his loving parents, Leora and Edmund, his oldest brother Lionel, and his dear dog Cinnamon in heaven.

Larry will be dearly missed by his brother Charles and sister-in-law Rita, his nephews Richard and Kevin, and his great nieces Maddy and Summer. He leaves behind a particularly special bond with his best friend, Marjorie, who will miss him deeply, alongside many extended family members and dear friends.

A proud and skilled tradesman, Larry was well known for his dedicated welding work at Chrysler. Outside of work, he was an avid sports enthusiast who took great joy in his slow-pitch baseball career. A frequent snowbird in Florida, Larry loved nothing more than cruising around with the top down in a nice convertible.

Larry was also a proud member of the Essex County baseball community, where his love of the game extended far beyond the diamond

Larry always appreciated a good, comfortable sleep—and his family takes solace in knowing he now rests peacefully.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Erie Shores Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and dignity shown to Larry throughout his final days. Your support and compassion brought comfort to Larry and to all who loved him, and it will always be deeply appreciated.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30am on Monday, July 27th, 2026, at Heavenly Rest Cemetery (5005 Howard Ave, LaSalle, ON N9H 1Z5).

Robert W. McMillan

In Loving Memory of Robert W. McMillan

July 17, 1943 – June 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Robert W. McMillan (Bob) at the age of 82.

He was predeceased by his father Robert L. McMillan and his mother Geraldine (nee Brian).

Beloved husband of Marilyn (nee Wall) for almost 57 years.

Very proud and loving father to Matthew and Lisa, and Meredith and Dean.

Loving and supportive Papa to his grandchildren, Madelyn and Nickolas McMillan, and Jack and Liam Fitzmaurice.

Dearly loved brother of Kent McMillan and his wife Kirsten, and brother-in-law to Maureen Cowan and her husband Greg. Best friend to Al Evans for over 60 years

Bob will also be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Bob retired from Ford Motor after 42 years of dedicated service. He played fastball for a lot of his adult life and was honoured to be inducted into the Windsor Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame, along with his Dad Robert L. McMillan.

As per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, ON. Online condolences and cherished memories can be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com

June 2026 Update

We are fast approaching July, where we have lots of upcoming events.  Although we have lost quite a few game due to rain outs, the heat and humidity hasn’t been bad…starting next week, this will change.

Time Change for July:

A reminder starting, Wednesday, July 1st, games will start at 9:30 am.  This time change is for August as well.

If there are any heat warnings, they will be posted on the website.

Bring water/fluids to hydrate during the game, especially as the summer weather heats up.  Know your limits.  Listen to your body. 

JULY/AUGUST Daily Game Schedule:

8:45 – 9:15 am – Batting practice

9:15 – 9:30 am – Infield Drills

9:30 – 11:15 am – Game

M & M Sports:

A shout out to Matt and Megan at the pavilion for giving WECSSO timely notifications of game cancellations.  New changes to food as well, always welcome after a game.

Golf Tournament – Orchard View Golf

There are still spaces available.  See the website for more information or in person to Mike Palenchar or Don Balkwill.  You do not need a foursome to sign up, but there must be at least one WECSSO member per foursome.

Last year we had approximately 100 golfers.  The weather cooperated and it was a great day!

Appreciation Luncheon:

If you are new to WECSSO or missed last year, this is a luncheon hosted by the league for all three divisions.  This lunch includes, pizza, wings, potato wedges and salad.  We use local vendors and support our community.  It is always well attended and makes for a great day.

Important Notice:

Please be advised that the Ciociaro Complex is a smoke/vape-free area.  The Board of Health, may randomly visit the complex to check enforcement.  The fine if breaking the by-law is $305 for a first offence and between $1000 – $3000 for any additional infractions.

Signs are now posted at the gate to the diamonds and near the trailer, please smoke only in these areas.

Please be considerate of others when smoking.

Glenn Holland

In Loving Memory of Glenn Holland

August 12, 1937 – May 28, 2026

Glenn G. Holland peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by the profound love, respect, and admiration of his wife and children. He was the devoted husband of Laure Holland for over 66 cherished and amazing years. Glenn’s life was defined by the deep pride he held for his wife and five children. As a truly cherished father, grandfather and great grand-father, he was the heart of every family celebration and party, leaving behind a precious legacy filled with a lifetime of unforgettable stories and funny one-liners.

Dad was a living testament to faith in action. Whether he was coaching little league baseball in his prime, participating in the Assumption High School Dad’s Club, volunteering with St. Vincent De Paul, selling newspapers for the Goodfellows, or Tootsie Rolls for the Knights of Columbus, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. A proud parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Holy Name of Mary, and Our Lady of Assumption, he fondly “claimed” the title of #1 Usher.

Glenn was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Tigers. He wasn’t just a spectator; he enjoyed playing baseball himself in the Essex County Senior League, and continued his passion during the winter months in Winter Haven, Florida. An avid reader of The Windsor Star, he  enjoyed the “peace and quiet” of reading it from cover to cover every day. His favorite pastime later in life became weekends relaxing by the lake at the ‘cottage,’ working on a sudoku puzzle while enjoying a cold drink with lots of ice.

Dad, with his unique philosophy that we are “here for a good time, not a long time,” made his birthday, August 12th, the centerpiece of his Celebration of Life—. He gave us one final, poignant reminder of this truth: by taking his last breath at 8:12, we connect his passing with the date of his birth, ensuring August 12th remains a day to honor a life fully lived and a powerful message to all that life is for the living.

Though his absence creates a void that can never truly be filled, the echoes of his generosity, his laughter, his stories, his signature jokes and one-liners will forever be the vibrant soundtrack of our Holland family memories and gatherings.

He will be missed beyond measure. He was so loved.

For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County or Transition to Betterness would be appreciated. Visitation on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Thursday, June 4, 2026 all are welcome to gather directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 2735 University Ave. W., from 9:30 a.m. until a Mass in Celebration of Glenn’s Life begins at 10:30 a.m.
