Your 2026 WECSSO Board Candidates and Amendments to the Constitution

According to Article 4B of our Constitution: Card holding members may vote by mail or email if unable to attend. All votes by mail/email must go to the Secretary of the WECSSO and be post marked 7 days prior to the Annual General Meeting, of our Constitution. You are allowed to cast your vote for any proposed amendments and your choice of up to six candidates. Anyone voting for all 7 will make their ballot null and void.

If voting by email you can ONLY vote on Wednesday September 30th from 12:00am up until 12:00pm.

Any email votes received after 12:00pm September 30th will be null and void.

In person voting can be done at the AGM on Wednesday October 7th, at 1:00pm, at the Ciociaro Club, Salon C.

These are the 7 candidates that are running for the 6 positions on the Board.

  1. Amendment #1 (Proposed by Barbara Sanders, Seconded by Aldo Bertucci). 

Article 3B reads: “The Board of Directors shall be made up of 12 members elected from and by the general membership at annual meetings. It will also include any active Past Presidents who will have voting rights. (Amended at annual meeting – October – 2018)

I propose the removal of “it will also include any active Past Presidents who will have voting rights.”

I propose the inclusion of “past presidents may remain on the board for ONE YEAR beyond the date they cease to be President without voting rights.”

An extension of this wording also impacts 3D:

Article 3 D reads “Officers of the Board of Directors shall be elected annually from and by the 12 members of the Board and the Past President(s), and shall consist of:” (Amended at annual meeting – October – 2018)

Amendment is the REMOVAL of “wording” and the Past President(s)

RATIONALE 

I believe it is imperative to keep WECSSO viable and relevant to our ever changing membership. 

A Past President’s responsibility is to inform and guide the NEW President on their authorities and duties. That is, ease the transition.

Currently, a Past President can remain on the Board without being elected and with voting privileges indefinitely regardless of their competency/relevance. This is counterproductive to the election process conducted yearly. The membership should have a say on who is voting on decisions the Board makes on their behalf. This point is not present when NON ELECTED persons on the Board have a vote.

Should a Past President wish to remain as an active Board member at the conclusion of their one year term they are afforded the same opportunity as ANY other member to sit for election and IF successful participate as an elected Board member.

  1. Amendment #2 (Proposed by Brian Adlam, Seconded by Don Balkwill). 

The Board recommended, at the July 31st Board meeting, the following proposed motion: Any player, being an active member for 20 years (cumulative) will be honoured with a Life Membership. This Life Membership award allows the player to be able to continue playing ball for as many years as he/she wishes for an annual registration fee of $75.
