Bob Wilhelm

WILHELM, Robert “Bob” Francis
Bob loved life and was enthusiastic about everything he did. He left us with his love on September 10, 2012, as the sun was setting and the birds were singing through his window. As a man of many passions, he loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his special cat, his god-daughter, bowling, baseball and cars. He married the love of his life, Ruth Ann, 25 years ago. They enjoyed family, travelling, nature, walking and quiet evenings together. He was born in Windsor on July 28, 1936 to Nicholas Wilhelm and Giselle Nemeth. His much loved children include Denise Vince (Bill), Tim (Carol), Rob (Ruthie), Jeff (Kim) and Wendy Soleski (Dan). One of Bob’s great joys was watching his grandchildren play sports. His grandchildren include Jayson, Carly, Alex, Curtis, Brett, Dana, Craig, Mason and Sydney. Special times include family celebrations, Christmas, apple-picking and the never-to-be-forgotten pool sports with his children and grandchildren. His siblings are Edith Savage (Jim), Irene Kett (late Chuck) and Dick Wilhelm (Francie). He is loved by his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends and sports buddies. Bob’s main employers were Chrysler Canada and Windsor Raceway (for 22 years he worked both at the same time). Bob enjoyed his retirement often saying he was busier than when he worked. He loved bowling and played for 15 years in the men’s senior league at Bowlero. On an equal par was his summer involvement in baseball through WECSSO where he served on the Board of Directors for 12 years. He always looked forward to summer golf with his three sons and the family times that followed. His favourite hobby was buying and selling cars. Bob was a member of St. John Vianney Church and was a Eucharistic Minister for a shut-in. The family expresses deep appreciation to CCAC, Bayshore Home Health, Hospice, Metropolitan Hospital and Malden Park for their kindness and care given to Bob during his illness. In kindness, memorial donations should be made to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County or Malden Park Palliative Care Unit.
